- Do you know and understand yourself? Further, do you have an inkling of the real purpose of your existence, a deeper purpose locked within you?
- Do you believe that human beings may have a purpose here on this planet other than the self—centered gratification of their every desire?

G.I. Gurdjieff sought to answer these profound questions brought to humanity practices and concepts that allow people to discover the truth of their lives, why they are here, why their lives are the way they are, why they live in a semi—awake state of consciousness and repeat the same thoughts, feelings, movements, mistakes, and patterns of behavior throughout their lives. The practices and concepts he brought are referred to as The Work. He brought to humanity practices and concepts that allow people to discover the truth of their lives, why they are here, why their lives are the way they are, why they live in a semi—-awake state of consciousness and repeat the same thoughts, feelings, movements, mistakes, and patterns of behavior throughout their lives.

Dr. Schreiber has been involved in the Gurdjieff Work since 1968. He is the author of the recently published Gurdjieff's Transformational Psychology: The Art of Compassionate Self-Study. He is a practicing clinical psychologist in a community-based psychotherapy clinic in Northern California. His recognition of the need for the development of self-compassion in his clients is emphasized in his clinical practice.
