from The Mirror of Simple Souls by Marguerite Porete who was illuminated in flames or burned at the stake as a heretic in the year 1310:

"The unencumbered soul knows all and so knows nothing... sing for all those who are not yet unencumbered that they might hear something about freeness and whatever else is necessary until they arrive at this stage: nothingness without limit... incomprehensible nothingness... the not understood... the illuminated... the annihilated in all things... at peace in being... Named: Oblivion, then forgotten..."

This performance of spiritually inspired works will include music of three centuries on as many instruments, including improvisational works for lute by il divino Francesco (1497-1543); theorbo preludes non mesuré by Castaldi (1580-1649) and Visée (1650-1725), and untempered minimalist expansions for guitar avec cordes avallées by Dominic Schaner (b. 1985).
