Finding Home: Restoring the Sacred to Life
Anne Scott, Author of Finding Home
Original Date: Thursday, June 16, 2016
Please join us for an evening that concerns - and touches - us all: how we care for life when our communities call out for healing and change. Anne Scott will share about her new book, Finding Home, based on our program for newly homeless women. Myosho Ginny Matthews and Diana Badger will also speak about their experiences in our program at a Sonoma County daytime shelter. In this luminous collection of stories by and about homeless women, Anne Scott reveals how the deepest form of empowerment can be found when women reconnect with the sacred within themselves. Deftly weaving the women's own writing and sometimes their dreams with her own reflections, Anne presents an inspiring and compassionate picture of the healing that is possible for women in homelessness, when held in safely contained groups whose focus is on listening within, to the beauty and wisdom that awaits. Offering invaluable guidance for those wishing to work with women in transition, this book also serves as a beacon to us all for finding our true 'inner homes', through the eloquent ways it points us back to a deeper way of relating to life and its sacred source.
Anne Scott is the founder of DreamWeather Foundation, a writer, and grandmother. She has led workshops in diverse communities and organizations around the country and internationally.
