"The Mystical Positivist" is a radio show and blog dedicated to the application of reason in the pursuit of spiritual practice and development. Join us for a discussion of this new media project and the paradoxical meaning of the term Mystical Positivism. The Mystical Positivist perspective can be controversial; it presents a challenge to many of the comfortable attitudes in the New Age and contemporary spiritual scene, which often depict an overly romantic picture of spiritual transformation while ignoring the gritty substrate underlying genuine Work on Self. The thesis of Mystical Positivism is that rationality is in no way the antithesis of deep mystical experience; in fact, it is a necessary ally.

Stuart Goodnick received apprentice and master-level training in the alchemical transformation of human consciousness from Tayu Meditation Center founder Robert Daniel Ennis, and has been a Tayu teacher since 1993. Tayu Center is an esoteric spiritual school with roots in several traditions, but founder Robert Ennis crafted an original and cohesive set of everyday esoteric practices applicable to the conditions of life in the twenty-first century. Tayu owns and operates Many Rivers Books & Tea. Stuart is an executive in a software company based outside the U.S., studies shakuhachi (bamboo flute) with master teacher Masayuki Koga, and hosts the Mystical Positivist radio show on KOWS-fm.
