Rich and spacious, delicate and dynamic, a Tibetan system of self-healing yoga and relaxation practices called Kum Nye has played a primary role in my healing practice, Double Helix Healing, for over 25 years. It was first introduced into the West by the reincarnate Nyingma Lama Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche, whose compassionate presence has touched the hearts and changed of lives of so many. The practices involving breath, slow movement, mantra, visualization, and self-massage bring harmonious balance between body, breath, and mind. The Red Tara Crystal Healing Process is a profound short ritual to cleanse the body/mind and nurture our intrinsic connection to the female Buddha, Tara, "She who carries us over the ocean of suffering," or the "Mother of the Victorious Ones." First transmitted to the West by His Eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, this practice originates from Padmasambhava and is central to Double Helix Healing as well.

James L. Gauer, Ph.D. is sharing the Tibetan Buddhist teachings through classes and private practice at the Wish-fulfilling Tree Alternative Healing Center in Sebastopol.
