Village Earth is a collection of poetry and poetic prose which honors the influence of her local roots and responses to the larger village. Jan will be reading from this collection and from some of her more recent poetry and poetic prose.

Michele Luna has been leading Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods (Stewards) for 20 of the 29 years of its existence as a State Park Cooperating Association. Stewards provides docent and naturalist-led education and stewardship programs at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, Austin Creek State Recreation Area and at Sonoma Coast State Park.

Programs include staffing two visitor centers, Seal Watch, Whale Watch, Environmental Education programs for youth groups teaching them about redwoods ecology, the intertidal, watersheds, and the cultural history in western Sonoma County. Stewards' Citizen Science Programs include PInniped and Seabird Monitoring. Adult and youth stewardship crews provide essential support for State Parks during a time when they are short-staffed and undergoing service reductions, especially along the Sonoma Coast. Stewards has stepped up in recent years to operate Austin Creek SRA, including camping facilities and to open closed areas for special programs with youth and adult groups.

Michele will be speaking about the many partnerships Stewards has developed and nurture with other partners, agencies and nonprofits to leverage contributions 6 times over in support of YOUR State Parks. She will also share the organizations new endeavors for 2014, including their new "Stewards Ship."
