From the quiet of a Zen Monastery to the enclosed silence of monasticism to the shared silence of a Quaker Meeting; silence is a prominent idea in the fabric of many spiritual traditions. Based on his thirty years experience in the Zen tradition, and his more recent experience with Quaker Meeting, Jim Wilson will lead an open discussion of the many roles that silence can play on the spiritual path and how different traditions have understood the place of silence.
Jim Wilson has been a meditator for over 35 years, is a former Prison Chaplain, and published poet. He has announced his intention to retire from his long involvement with public speaking; appropriately, this talk on silence will be his final public talk.
